Full job descriptionMaintenance Engineer (Shift Cover) - WirralRate: £30.00 per hour (PAYE) | £35.00-£40.00 per hour (Umbrella / Outside IR35)

Gap Technical is seeking skilled Maintenance Engineers to provide ad-hoc shift cover across a range of manufacturing sites in theWirralarea. Whether you’re looking for additional earnings, greater flexibility, or exposure to a variety of manufacturing environments, we have opportunities to suit you.

*FMCG
*Food & Beverage
*Packaging
*Chemical Manufacturing
Key Responsibilities*Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
*Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
*Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults using technical documentation and engineering expertise.
*Fault-find on 3-phase electrical systems, drives, PLC I/O, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
*Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
*Work collaboratively with production and operations teams to maximise equipment reliability and performance.
*Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
About YouWe’re looking for engineers who have:
*A completed time-served engineering apprenticeship (preferred).
*Previous experience within manufacturing or production environments.
*Strong fault-finding skills across:
*3-Phase Electrical Systems
*Drives & Inverters
*PLC I/O
*Pneumatic Systems
*Hydraulic Systems
*Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
*The ability to work independently and adapt quickly to different manufacturing sites.
Experience within FMCG, Packaging, Food & Beverage or Chemical manufacturing is advantageous but not essential.
