SEMH and Wellbeing Support Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Swindon is seeking a dedicated SEMH and Wellbeing Support Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of children who require additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The Role
*Provide 1:1 support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
*Support children who may experience anxiety, emotional dysregulation, or barriers to learning
*Deliver targeted small-group interventions focused on confidence, resilience, and social skills
*Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support positive outcomes
*Build strong, trusting relationships that help pupils feel understood and valued
*Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN professionals, and external agencies to support individual learning plans
*Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment across the school
What We’re Looking For
*A patient, resilient, and empathetic nature
*Confidence supporting children with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills
*A genuine interest in psychology, mental health, education, or child development
*Previous experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals (desirable but not essential)

Ideal Backgrounds (Not Essential)
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:
*Psychology or related degree disciplines
*Youth work, mentoring, or support work
*Care or residential support settings
*PRUs, alternative provision, or specialist educational settings
*Team Teach, MAPA, or CPI training
Requirements
*Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
*Right to work in the UK
