About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
*Support teaching staff in delivering high-quality learning activities and lessons.
*Work with students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to reinforce learning.
*Assist in the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and materials.
*Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and independence.
*Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Student Support
*Support students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other learning needs.
*Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
*Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
*Build trusting and supportive relationships with pupils.
*Provide personal care support where required.
Safeguarding and Welfare
*Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students.
*Follow safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety procedures at all times.
*Report any safeguarding or welfare concerns promptly and appropriately.
*Support pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, educational visits, and enrichment activities.
Teamwork and Communication
*Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, therapists, and other professionals.
*Communicate effectively with parents and carers when appropriate.
*Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
*Contribute positively to the wider school community.

Essential Criteria
*Experience working with children or young people.
*A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
*Good organisational and time-management skills.
*Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
*Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria
*Experience working in a SEND, specialist, or educational setting.
*Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, ADHD, and other additional needs.
*Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or a related field.
*Understanding of behaviour management strategies.
*First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
