Full job descriptionTeaching Assistant - SEN Team (Primary School)Academics are working in partnership with a welcoming and nurturing Primary School in Ashford that are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their established SEN Team from September. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with additional needs while working as part of a collaborative and experienced support team.
Although a mainstream primary school, the school has a strong commitment to inclusion and provides extensive support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant within the school’s SEN Team, you will play a key role in supporting pupils across the school by:
*Providing dedicated 1:1 support for children with additional needs.
*Delivering targeted intervention sessions to individuals and small groups.
*Supporting pupils with ASC, SLCN and SEMH to access learning and achieve their full potential.
*Assisting with behaviour management and promoting positive engagement in lessons.
*Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and the wider SEN Team to deliver personalised support.
*Supporting within the classroom when required, helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:*Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or within an SEN setting.
*Experience supporting children with ASC, SLCN, SEMH or other additional needs.
*A patient, resilient and compassionate approach to supporting young people.
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
*A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
*A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
*An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
