An established public-sector organisation is seeking to recruit an Employee Relations Officer on an interim 6-month basis. This role will sit within the HR team and will focus on coordinating and managing appeals, Employment Tribunal (ET) activity, and a range of employee relations matters. The position plays a key role in supporting formal HR processes and ensuring fair and consistent employee management.
About the role
This role is responsible for providing consistent and robust advice and support to managers on sensitive people management issues and policies. You will enable decision-making that is fair, pragmatic and aligned to organisational objectives and legal obligations.
Working as part of the People Operations team, you will support the effective delivery of Employee Relations (ER) casework, working collaboratively with colleagues across HR to ensure a high-quality, consistent service.
Key responsibilities
*Provide practical Employee Relations advice and guidance to managers across a range of casework, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness absence and probation
*Support managers in handling sensitive and complex people matters, ensuring consistency and appropriate application of HR policies
*Interpret and apply HR policies to a variety of situations, providing clear, pragmatic and legally compliant advice
*Advise on family leave options and support managers through associated processes
*Work closely with HR colleagues to support the effective management and resolution of escalated ER casework
*Contribute to the continuous improvement of ER processes, policies and case management approaches
*Maintain accurate, detailed records and ensure casework is managed in a timely and organised manner
What we’re looking for
*Proven experience managing a broad range of Employee Relations casework (disciplinary, grievance, capability, sickness, probation)
*Confident providing advice to managers on sensitive and complex employee relations issues
*Strong understanding of HR policy and the ability to interpret and apply it effectively
*Experience supporting family leave cases
*Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
*High level of attention to detail and accuracy
