Full job descriptionMy client, a leading UK transportation business, are looking to hire an ambitious and personable Finance Manager to join their office near Runcorn.
This role offers you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by overseeing financial operations and supporting business growth through your financial expertise.
Reporting to the Finance Director, and managing a team of three, if you are looking for a role where your interpersonal skills and financial acumen will be valued, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
What you’ll do:
*Oversee all aspects of financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
*Collaborate closely with other departments to provide insightful financial analysis that supports strategic decision-making across the organisation.
*Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring timely submission and adherence to internal policies.
*Monitor cash flow, manage accounts payable and receivable processes, and maintain robust controls over financial transactions.
*Support the audit process by preparing documentation and liaising with external auditors to facilitate smooth reviews.
*Develop and implement effective financial policies and procedures that promote transparency and accountability within the team.
*Provide guidance and mentorship to junior finance staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
*Identify areas for process improvement within finance operations, recommending solutions that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
*Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including tax filings, VAT returns, and other regulatory obligations.
*Work collaboratively with senior management to develop long-term financial strategies that align with organisational goals.
What you bring:


*Demonstrated experience in financial management within a commercial or industrial setting, showing reliability in handling complex budgets.
*Proficiency in preparing detailed financial statements and reports using accounting software such as Sage or SAP.
*Strong interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
*Ability to mentor junior finance staff by sharing knowledge generously and supporting their development.
*Excellent attention to detail when monitoring cash flow, accounts payable/receivable processes, and compliance activities.
*Understanding of statutory requirements including tax filings, VAT returns, and audit preparation.
*Commitment to continuous learning demonstrated by participation in training programmes or professional development courses.
*Problem-solving abilities focused on improving processes through considerate recommendations rather than aggressive change.
*Capacity for empathetic communication when explaining financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
*Experience working within teams that value inclusivity, dependability, and supportive leadership.
