A leading UK manufacturing and distribution business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its finance leadership team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
This role is reporting directly to the Finance Director, with responsibility for leading the finance function, managing a small team and ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to support business performance and decision-making.
The organisation is well-established, with a national footprint and exciting growth plans.
Description




Key responsibilities include:
*Leading the month-end, half-year, and year-end reporting process.
*Overseeing the preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS and UK GAAP.
*Coordinating external audit activities and managing key audit risks.
*Owning the production of management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and supporting analysis.
*Driving continuous improvement across reporting, controls, systems, and finance processes.
*Enhancing internal controls and supporting upcoming UK governance and controls reforms.
*Overseeing cash flow forecasting, treasury management, and working capital initiatives.
*Acting as a key contact for tax compliance and external advisers.
*Partnering with senior stakeholders to challenge performance and support strategic decision-making.
*Leading, coaching, and developing a finance team of qualified and part-qualified professionals.





Profile
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience gained within a sizeable business environment.
You will also bring:
*Proven finance team leadership experience.
*Strong knowledge of statutory reporting and audit management.
*Experience of maintaining and improving financial controls.
*Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
*The ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
*A proactive approach to process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
*ERP implementation experience would be advantageous but is not essential.


Job Offer
*Competitive salary of £75,000 - £90,000.
