The Associate Data Analyst will be responsible for the timely and accurate capture of financial data from a range of insurance companies. They will be required to interpret and input data from the balance sheets, income statements and notes from the insurance company annual reports ensuring Company methodology followed at all times.
The ADA will gain significant exposure into the accounting principles of insurance accounting practices internationally.
The Team
Within the Group, A.M. Best Europe - Information Services (AMBEIS) is based in London and is responsible for the supply of information products and data on the insurance industry in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa. The International Data Team (IDT) are responsible for the collation of financial data for inclusion within both the ratings process and data products. The team supply data for a range of AM Best flagship products as well as data feeds directly to a number of corporate clients. The team are also responsible for working with internal and external clients providing analysis for market briefing, research assignments and press comments.
Responsibilities
*Input financial data extracted from insurance companies’ report and accounts.
*Manually extract and input data into bespoke database in line with company methodology.
*Use machine learning capability software to allocate account items into data capture templates.
*Validation of European insurance companies’ regulatory data received from third party data provider.
*Assist in the production of data for use in AM Best Special Reports under the support of senior analysts.
Qualifications
*Degree level education, preferably in accounting/finance, business or actuarial studies
Skills
*Ability to understand and navigate financial information, particularly insurance companies’ reports and accounts
*Understanding of insurance or financial services market would be useful.
*Good IT skills, especially Excel
*Good prioritisation and multi-tasking skills
*Good level of accuracy and attention to detail
*Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Language Required:
Ability to read financial information in an Asian language is a requirement, specifically Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese or Korean.
