Job Title: Plater
Location: Rotherham – Workshop and Site Based
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm)
Hourly Rate: £19.48
Responsibilities of a Plater:
*Fabricating and assembling tanks, vessels, hoppers, and pressure vessels from engineering drawings.
*Reading and interpreting technical drawings, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols.
Marking out, measuring, and preparing steel, stainless steel, or aluminium plate for fabrication.
*Cutting materials using guillotines, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel, or saws.
*Rolling, bending, and forming plate to the required dimensions and specifications.
*Assembling components using tack welding, clamps, and fixtures before final welding.
*Producing high-quality fabrication and welds in line with BS EN ISO 9001, ASME IX, BS EN, CE and customer specifications
*Interpreting detailed engineering drawings and assembling products in line with technical requirements
*Operating a range of equipment safely, including weld sets, grinders, cranes and forklifts (LOLER compliant)
*Working on storage tanks and associated projects to API and EEMUA standards
*Keeping weld coding management up to date in accordance with ASME9 & BS EN requirements
Experience:
*Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Plater/Welder role
*Strong understanding of API and EEMUA standards
*Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings
*Proven experience in fabrication, mechanical assembly, and coded welding
*Comfortable working independently and taking a lead role within a team
*Confident meeting strict deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality
*A proactive approach, strong work ethic, and commitment to doing things right
Additional Requirements
*Full UK driving licence
*Right to work in the UK
*Willingness to work overtime as required
*Flexibility to work off-site, including occasional travel to other locations
*Ability to stay in temporary accommodation when projects require it
