Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist setting in Rochdale.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential.
The Role*Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
*Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour and engagement in learning.
*Build positive, trusting relationships to promote confidence and resilience.
*Use de-escalation and behaviour management strategies to support pupils throughout the school day.
*Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider pastoral team to deliver personalised support.
*Encourage independence, emotional wellbeing and positive social interactions.
Requirements*Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs.
*A calm, patient and resilient approach.
*Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
*Ability to remain positive and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
*Experience within schools, PRUs, alternative provisions, residential care or youth work is desirable.
