A Wembley-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Enforcement Officer to join its Food and Health & Safety Team on an immediate-start temporary contract.
This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio covering Food Safety, Health & Safety and Infectious Disease Control, managing both proactive and reactive casework within a busy regulatory environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking inspections, investigations, enforcement activities and providing professional advice to businesses and stakeholders while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
*Carry out food hygiene and food safety inspections.
*Undertake health and safety inspections and interventions.
*Investigate food hygiene complaints and health & safety complaints.
*Investigate and manage RIDDOR notifications.
*Carry out enforcement activities in accordance with legislation and council policies.
*Contribute to infectious disease control investigations and interventions.
*Prepare reports, notices, witness statements and legal documentation.
*Provide professional advice and guidance to businesses, residents and partners.
*Manage a varied caseload and maintain accurate records and case management systems.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position you must have:
*Registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
*A recognised qualification relevant to Environmental Health, such as:
*Diploma in Environmental Health
*BSc in Environmental Health
*MSc in Environmental Health
*NEBOSH qualification
*Current experience in Food Safety Enforcement.
*Current experience in Health & Safety Enforcement.
*Strong working knowledge of:
*Food Safety Legislation
*Food Hygiene Regulations
*Health & Safety Legislation
*Regulatory Enforcement Procedures
*Experience investigating:
*Food hygiene complaints
*Health & safety complaints
*RIDDOR notifications
*Formal enforcement action
