A growing water and environmental consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Hydrologist to join its Manchester team. The role will involve delivering a varied portfolio of hydrology and water-sector projects, with particular exposure to water quality, storm overflows, catchment investigations and environmental assessment.
The Role*Lead the delivery of hydrology projects from inception through to completion.
*Undertake hydrological assessments, catchment analysis and flood hydrology studies.
*Deliver and support Storm Overflow Assessment Framework (SOAF) studies and storm overflow investigations.
*Analyse rainfall, river flow, water quality and wider environmental datasets.
*Prepare high-quality technical reports, assessments and supporting documentation.
*Provide technical input into water quality, wastewater and catchment management projects.
*Undertake flood frequency analysis, rainfall-runoff assessments and climate change assessments.
*Support projects for water companies, regulators, developers and public-sector clients.
*Undertake site visits and field investigations where required.
*Liaise directly with clients, regulators and other project stakeholders.
*Manage project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
*Review technical work and provide mentoring and support to junior team members.
*Contribute to bids, fee proposals and business development activities.
*Work collaboratively with hydraulic modellers, water quality specialists, engineers and environmental consultants.
About YouThe successful candidate will ideally have:
*A degree in Hydrology, Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
*Significant experience within hydrology, water resources or water/environmental consultancy.
*Experience delivering or supporting SOAF studies, storm overflow investigations or wastewater-related projects.
*Strong understanding of UK hydrology and the water environment.
*Experience analysing hydrological, water quality and environmental datasets.
*Knowledge of WINEP, AMP programmes and UK water-sector regulatory requirements would be advantageous.
*Experience with hydrological, hydraulic or water-quality modelling software.
*Strong technical report writing and numerical analysis skills.
*Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
*Experience managing projects and mentoring junior colleagues.
*A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site work.
Chartered status or working towards CIWEM, ICE or a similar professional qualification would be advantageous.
