Full job descriptionAutism Specialist Support Staff
We are seeking compassionate, skilled and proactive individuals with specialist knowledge of Autism (ASC) to join a highly regarded SEN school in Bradford. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a wide range of communication, sensory and social-emotional needs, helping them access learning and thrive in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Autism-specific support - using visual timetables, structured routines and clear communication
*Deliver personalised strategies for sensory regulation, transitions and emotional support
*Work 1:1 or with small groups to develop communication, social interaction and independence
*Implement programmes designed by teachers, therapists and SENCOs
*Support pupils with behaviour linked to communication or sensory needs
*Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
*Contribute to progress reviews and maintain accurate support records
What We’re Looking For
*Experience supporting children or young people with Autism (school, care or community settings)
*Understanding of sensory processing differences, communication needs and structured teaching approaches
*Calm, patient and consistent approach
*Ability to follow support plans and work collaboratively
*Willingness to undertake training such as Makaton, PECS or autism-specific CPD
*Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
