Temporary 2 - 3 Month Assignment

Hybrid Working Available, 2 days in the office and 1 day on site
Bolton Council are looking for a Household Planning Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Development Management Team by assessing and managing a range of householder and minor planning applications. You will provide professional planning advice, contribute to service improvements, and help ensure that planning decisions are made in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and professional standards.
This is a varied and rewarding role requiring strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a customer-focused approach.
Day to day of the role:
*Assess, review, negotiate, and make recommendations on householder and minor planning applications.
*Evaluate planning enquiries, appeals, and related development proposals.
*Negotiate amendments where appropriate to secure positive planning outcomes.
*Maintain accurate and up-to-date planning records and case files.
*Provide advice and guidance on planning applications, planning enforcement matters, and related issues.
*Support Planning Officers and Principal Planning Officers in the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of planning guidance documents, development briefs, and supplementary planning documents.
*Provide technical support across the Development Management function.
*Contribute to service priorities, performance targets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
*Promote and utilise ICT systems, electronic communications, and mobile working solutions to improve service delivery.
*Develop effective working relationships with internal departments, elected members, customers, and external stakeholders.
*Managing 30-50 cases
Required Skills & Qualifications
*Undertake additional duties as required to support the efficient operation of the Planning Division.
*Experience within a planning, development management, or local government environment.
*Knowledge of planning legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.
*Experience assessing planning applications and preparing recommendations.
*Strong report writing and communication skills.
*The ability to manage a varied caseload and work to deadlines.
*Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant ICT systems.
*A flexible and collaborative approach to work.
*Valid UK Driving Licence, and access to a vehicle to do site visits (Business Insurance will be required).
