Full job descriptionOur client Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is looking for a Children’s Senior Social Worker to join their Child protection locality team
Role Summary
The post holder will provide a local and personal social care service for children and families in need and contribute to the range of voluntary and statutory social work activities, including carrying out assessments and including within court proceedings.
Progression through grading bands:
This post is career graded and progression through the bands will require the post holder to deal with increasing levels of responsibility, complexity of work and degree of emotional demand appropriate to each band.
Essential Criteria for shortlisting:
*Substantial post qualifying experience including working with children in need
*Experience of working in a local authority within statutory children’s services
*Experience of carrying out risk assessments
*Experience of presenting evidence to the court
*Utilising a range of ICT systems and applications
*Social work qualification e.g. DipSW, CQSW, CSS, Degree Social Work
*Successful completion of the Assessed & Supported Year in Employment (if qualified since September 2012) certified by the College of Social Work
*Social Work England Registered
Desirable Criteria:
*Experience of undertaking safeguarding investigations
*Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation
*Knowledge of Government initiatives relating to "looked after" children/children in need
*Knowledge of social work practice and application of social work theory to complex cases
*Knowledge of other agencies and their role
*Awareness of the current climate of change within Education, Health and Social Services
