Full job descriptionA leading law firm is seeking a Family Paralegal to join its highly regarded Family department in Milton Keynes. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated legal professional to develop their experience within a busy and supportive team handling a broad range of family matters.
The successful Family Paralegal will support solicitors across LAA-funded and private client matters, gaining hands-on exposure to case preparation, client contact, advocacy and court proceedings.
The Family Paralegal’s Role*Assisting solicitors with a broad range of Family Law matters
*Supporting LAA-funded and private client cases
*Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
*Drafting correspondence, witness statements and other legal documents
*Preparing and managing Legal Aid funding applications
*Processing and reviewing evidence
*Attending conferences and court hearings
*Undertaking advocacy where appropriate
*Maintaining accurate case records and time costing
*Assisting with file reviews and implementing recommendations
*Ensuring compliance with firm procedures and file management requirements
*Liaising with clients and other parties throughout matters
The Family Paralegal*Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
*Previous experience within Family Law or a strong demonstrable interest in the area
*Good understanding of Family Law principles
*Strong academic background
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Strong client care skills and a sensitive, professional approach
*Excellent organisational and analytical abilities
*Ability to work independently and use initiative
*Strong attention to detail
*Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
*Self-motivated, proactive and commercially aware
*Ability to work effectively within a team and manage competing priorities
