*Location: Hybrid (2 days in the office, must include Thursdays)
*Working Hours: 37 hours per week (Core hours with some flexibility)
*Start Date: 1st September
My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Locum Litigation Lawyer to join their Legal Services team. This role is crucial for managing a complex litigation caseload, particularly focusing on housing disrepair, and providing high-quality legal advice within a local authority setting.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Manage a varied caseload of civil and criminal litigation matters, with a focus on complex housing disrepair cases.
*Represent the client in various courts including Magistrates’, County, and High Courts.
*Provide expert legal advice to Members, officers, and stakeholders.
*Draft legal documents, notices, reports, and court documentation.
*Support key service areas within housing and disrepair claims.
*Instruct and liaise with Counsel and external professionals.
*Support and develop junior team members, including trainees.
*Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Litigation Team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive (with rights of audience in England & Wales), or experienced Paralegal.
*Extensive experience in housing-related disrepair claims.
*Strong experience in litigation, ideally within housing and/or planning law.
*Knowledge of court procedures across Magistrates’, County, and High Courts.
*Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and research skills.
*Ability to interpret and apply complex legislation.
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
*Confident communicator able to engage with a range of stakeholders.
