We’re working with a well-established and growing organisation that is looking to add a talented Group Management Accountant to its finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys getting involved in the detail of management accounting whilst also taking on responsibility for supporting and developing junior team members. You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and play a key role in improving processes, enhancing reporting, and helping the finance function operate as efficiently as possible.
The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with three days per week in the Chester office. During the initial probation period, the successful candidate will be expected to spend more time in the office to support onboarding and team integration.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Group Management Accountant, you’ll be involved in a broad range of responsibilities, including:
*Producing monthly management accounts ready for review
*Preparing balance sheet reconciliations
*Posting journals, accruals and prepayments
*Managing fixed asset accounting and maintaining the asset register
*Performing financial analysis and reporting on business performance
*Supporting month-end processes and reporting deadlines
*Preparing VAT returns
*Assisting with payment runs and cash management activities
*Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
*Supporting budgeting and cost centre reviews
*Assisting with external audits and responding to audit queries
*Reviewing credit control activities and identifying improvements
*Helping to ensure the finance function runs effectively day to day
*Allocating work across the finance team and supporting workload management
*Communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders
*Conducting one-to-ones and supporting the development of junior finance colleagues
*Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and reporting
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak with candidates who have:
*Previous experience within a management accounting role
*Strong technical accounting knowledge
*Experience supervising, mentoring or managing junior team members
*Excellent Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs and advanced formulas
*Experience working within a larger business environment
*Previous involvement with external audits
*A proactive approach and a genuine interest in process improvement
*Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across the business
*The ability to prioritise workload and support a busy finance team
Qualifications
*AAT Level 4 qualification would be advantageous
*Fully qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience candidates will also be considered
