Reed Accountancy & Finance are supporting a growing and ambitious business in Durham City Centre with the recruitment of a Finance Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a well-established organisation during an exciting period of growth.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will take responsibility for the financial management of multiple entities within the group, ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the finance function. This role would suit a hands-on individual who enjoys both operational accounting and supporting a small finance team.
Key Responsibilities
*Reconciling bank and credit card accounts using Sage Line 50.
*Preparing year-end accounts across multiple group entities for submission to external accountants.
*Maintaining fixed asset registers and ensuring accurate asset records.
*Posting year-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments.
*Ensuring client and deposit accounts are fully reconciled and audit-ready.
*Allocating and reconciling incoming payments using internal systems.
*Managing payment processes and ensuring all third-party suppliers are paid within agreed terms.
*Maintaining accurate creditor ledgers and monitoring outstanding balances.
*Reviewing and posting financial transactions relating to business acquisitions and investments.
*Producing financial reports and management information for senior stakeholders.
*Identifying process improvements and implementing efficiencies across the finance function.
*Acting as the primary point of contact for the accounts team, providing guidance and support where required.
Person Specification
To be considered for this position, you will ideally have:
*Significant experience within a finance or accountancy role, ideally at a senior level.
*Strong working knowledge of Sage Line 50 and Microsoft Excel.
*Experience preparing year-end accounts and managing multiple entities.
*Excellent reconciliation and financial reporting skills.
*A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
*Previous experience supervising or supporting finance team members.
*A proactive and solutions-focused approach to work.
*The confidence to communicate financial information to senior stakeholders.
