Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
An established and growing business is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a responsible finance professional to play a key role and help to develop the office.
Reporting into the Finance Director, the successful candidate will take a lead in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting management reporting, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
*Preparation of monthly management accounts
*Perform bank, control account and intercompany reconciliations
*Maintain and reconcile the general ledger
*Support budgeting and forecasting activities
*Process accruals, prepayments and journal postings
*Cash flow
*Prepare VAT returns and assist with wider tax reporting requirements
*Support year-end audit processes and liaise with external auditors
*Identify and improve financial processes and internal controls
*Provide financial information and support to operational teams
*Assist with payroll processing and reconciliation
*Support the finance team with ad hoc reporting and projects
About You
You will be an organised and detail-oriented finance professional with strong technical accounting skills and a proactive approach.
Essential Requirements
*AAT qualified or currently studying ACCA, CIMA or a similar professional qualification
*Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
*Good understanding of payroll processing and related legislation
*Strong Microsoft Excel skills
*Experience using accounting and payroll systems
Key Skills
*Excellent attention to detail
*Strong numerical and analytical skills
*Effective written and verbal communication skills
*Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
*Strong organisational and time management skills
*Confident using finance systems and learning new software
*Self-motivated with a positive and proactive approach
