Finance Manager

About the Role

I am seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a client’s business. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities across financial reporting, compliance, payroll, and banking functions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial processes while supporting the wider business with timely financial information and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
*Prepare and submit VAT returns for both regulated and non-regulated business entities.
*Produce monthly management accounts, including analysis and reporting of financial performance.
*Manage and reconcile client accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
*Oversee the day-to-day operation and administration of company bank accounts.
*Maintain accurate office accounts and monitor business expenditure.
*Process monthly payroll and ensure all payroll obligations are met accurately and on time.
*Prepare and complete SRA reporting requirements and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
*Manage financial records and reporting using Xero and Clio systems.
*Monitor cash flow and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
*Assist with year-end processes and liaise with external accountants and auditors as required.
*Identify opportunities to improve financial controls and operational efficiencies.
Skills & Experience Required
*Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant, or similar role.
*Strong knowledge of VAT regulations and financial reporting requirements.
*Experience managing client account reconciliations within a professional services environment.
*Understanding of SRA Accounts Rules and reporting requirements would be highly advantageous.
*Experience processing payroll and managing month-end procedures.
*Proficient in Xero accounting software.
*Experience using Clio practice management software is desirable.
*Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
*Ability to manage priorities effectively and work independently.
*Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications
*AAT qualified, part-qualified, or fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred.
*Relevant finance and accounting experience will be considered alongside formal qualifications.
