Senior Quality Engineer - Coventry - Up to £55,000
Our client, a well-established automotive manufacturing business based in Coventry, is looking for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join their engineering and quality team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive quality professional to take a senior role with responsibility for customer, supplier and internal quality requirements, while supporting continuous improvement and maintaining high quality standards across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Senior Quality Engineer will provide senior quality support across manufacturing, customers and suppliers.
You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with quality standards, managing customer and supplier concerns, supporting audits and driving effective corrective and preventative actions.
Key Responsibilities
*Conduct internal Process, System and Product Audits
*Lead and support external and supplier audits
*Manage customer, supplier and internal 8D investigations and corrective actions
*Support APQP and PPAP activities for customers and suppliers
*Manage customer concerns and ensure effective containment and corrective action
*Participate in customer conference calls and customer visits
*Lead BSI external IATF 16949 audits
*Maintain and control QMS documentation
*Support supplier monitoring and performance improvement
*Produce and maintain BOS charts
*Complete relevant ERP transactions
*Apply knowledge of automotive OEM and aftermarket parts
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced automotive quality professional with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and quality management systems.
Strong knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes
Good knowledge of quality procedures, principles and techniques
Experience using manual measurement equipment, including:
*Verniers / calipers
*Micrometers
*DTI gauges
Shadow graphs
Surface finish measurement equipment
IATF 16949:2016 Lead Auditor qualification
*Strong knowledge of automotive Core Tools, including:
*FMEA
*Control Plans
*MSA
*APQP
*PPAP
*SPC
Desirable Experience
The following would be highly advantageous:
Approximately 5 years’ experience in an automotive quality role
CMM knowledge
VDA 6.3 Process Auditor qualification
Experience with IMDS input and distribution through the portal/database
Degree-level qualification in an engineering discipline or completion of an engineering apprenticeship
