Are you passionate about logistics and ensuring that goods reach their destination safely and efficiently? This role offers the chance to be part of a dynamic team within a leading organisation dedicated to creating life-saving products.
As a Shipping Administrator, you will play a crucial role in the Supply Chain department, ensuring that all goods are packaged correctly and meet legal and regulatory requirements for their final destination. Reporting to the Shipping Team Leader, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the shipping process.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and promote all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
- Follow shipping procedures and compliances specific to each country.
- Ensure transportation standards and legal compliance requirements are met for all shipments.
- Prepare preferential duty statements and ensure goods qualify as per relevant customs notices.
- Prepare shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, and Airway Bills.
- Advise relevant departments of shipments, including tracking numbers and estimated times of arrival.
- Clear held goods with customs in the UK and abroad, working with Border Force and relevant government departments.
- Communicate with customers regarding shipping instructions and details.
- Coordinate with production regarding order readiness and deadlines.
- Communicate shipment preparation instructions to planning and the despatch cell.
- Book collections with freight forwarders and couriers and communicate accordingly.
- Advise other departments of shipping costs, weights, and dimensions as required.
- Invoice deliveries and ensure departmental performance against targets.
- Identify and participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Promote customer satisfaction awareness throughout the department.
- Ensure the cell operates within its budget and all costs are returnable.
- Carry out any other duties deemed appropriate by the manager.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and think logically and analytically.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with awareness of priorities.
- Results-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Health & Safety training.
- A desire to learn and a questioning nature.
- A ’can do’ attitude and a flexible approach to work.
- Passionate about continuous improvement and driven to achieve goals.
- Ability to work on your own initiative with a methodical and logical approach to problem-solving.
- Culturally sensitive and a collaborative team player.
- Straightforward with no interest in office politics and curious to disrupt the status quo.
