An established property organisation is seeking a reliable and proactive Handyman / Property Maintenance & Caretaker to join its growing team.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting a portfolio of residential and commercial properties across Liverpool and the surrounding areas. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring properties remain safe, secure, well maintained and professionally presented. This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in high standards and is confident working independently while managing a range of maintenance and caretaking responsibilities.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
*Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs across multiple properties
*Respond to reactive maintenance issues and urgent repair requests
*Complete basic joinery, carpentry, decorating and making-good works
*Repair fixtures, fittings, doors, locks, handles and other building elements
*Undertake minor plumbing repairs where competent
*Support the preparation of properties for new occupiers
*Carry out minor external maintenance works including gates and fencing
*Move furniture, equipment and materials between sites
*Maintain tools, equipment and maintenance stock levels
*Identify specialist repair requirements and escalate when appropriate
*Take immediate action to make areas safe and minimise damage where required
*Conduct regular property inspections across the portfolio
*Open and secure properties as required
*Monitor the overall condition and presentation of buildings and communal areas
*Check entrances, corridors, stairwells, kitchens, toilets, lifts and shared facilities
*Ensure external areas remain clean, tidy and free from unnecessary rubbish
*Manage bin areas and assist with waste collection arrangements
*Report fly-tipping, damage, security concerns and maintenance issues
*Take photographs of defects and completed works when required
*Maintain accurate records of inspections and completed tasks
*Meet contractors and provide access to sites
*Assist with contractor supervision where necessary
*Support property inspections, surveys and authorised visits
*Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies
*Conduct visual health and safety checks
*Report hazards, defects and compliance concerns promptly
*Ensure communal areas, entrances and walkways remain safe and accessible
*Report fire safety and security issues
*Use tools and equipment safely and appropriately
We are looking for someone who has:
Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance, caretaking, facilities or property-based role
Strong practical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
Good all-round maintenance knowledge and attention to detail
The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
Desirable Skills & Experience
*Residential or commercial property experience
*Caretaking or facilities management experience
*Basic plumbing, joinery or decorating skills
*Relevant trade qualifications
