Reed Education are delighted to be supporting a welcoming and highly regarded primary school in the WF2 area of Wakefield in their search for an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP from Monday 7th September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a supportive and nurturing school environment where pupils are encouraged to thrive both academically and personally. The successful candidate will primarily work within Key Stage 1, whilst also providing 1:1 learning support to a named pupil to help them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Support teaching and learning within a Key Stage 1 classroom.
• Provide focused 1:1 support to a pupil for educational and learning purposes.
• Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging learning activities.
• Promote pupil engagement, confidence and independence.
• Support the academic, social and emotional development of pupils.
• Contribute positively to the school’s inclusive and child-centred ethos.
The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking a Teaching Assistant who:
• Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting.
• Has experience supporting pupils within Key Stage 1.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is patient, caring and committed to helping children achieve their best.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Has knowledge or experience of phonics programmes (desirable but not essential).
• Holds a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
