Full job descriptionThe company
This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and forward-thinking food manufacturing business with a strong commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement and operational performance.
Operating within a fast-paced, modern manufacturing environment, the company places safety, quality and its people at the heart of everything it does. With continued investment in equipment, technology and site infrastructure, this is an excellent time to join the engineering function and play an important role in delivering its future plans.
The role
As Project Engineer, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager to deliver a varied portfolio of engineering and capital projects. Your focus will be on implementing practical improvements that increase plant performance, reduce downtime, improve energy efficiency and support safe, reliable manufacturing operations.
You will take projects from initial concept through to successful completion, coordinating contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure work is delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities will include:*Supporting the delivery of engineering and capital investment projects
*Identifying improvement opportunities through root cause analysis
*Implementing projects that reduce downtime, energy usage and operating costs
*Coordinating contractors and ensuring compliance with permits, RAMS and site procedures
*Acting as the main technical contact for contractors, vendors and third parties
*Reviewing risk assessments and ensuring safe systems of work are in place
*Supporting equipment procurement, installation, commissioning and snagging
*Ensuring engineering changes meet safety, legal, quality and performance standards
*Training engineering and operational teams following the introduction of new equipment
*Working collaboratively with engineering, operations, quality, logistics, planning and warehouse teams
This is a hands-on position with a strong presence on the factory floor. It offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on plant performance while helping to shape engineering standards and capability across the site.
The candidate
We are looking for a proactive and capable engineer who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and delivering projects in a demanding manufacturing environment.
You will bring previous experience within food manufacturing, together with a sound understanding of engineering projects, health and safety requirements and contractor management. You should be comfortable balancing competing priorities, communicating with stakeholders at all levels and maintaining momentum against challenging deadlines.
The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate:*Previous engineering experience within the food manufacturing industry
*An electrical or multi-skilled engineering qualification, ideally at degree or HNC level
*An 18th Edition qualification
*Experience delivering engineering or capital projects
*Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
*Knowledge of equipment installation, commissioning and engineering change management
*Confidence managing contractors, suppliers and technical partners
*Strong planning, organisation and communication skills
If you are a driven Project Engineer who wants to deliver meaningful improvements, influence site performance and join a business investing in its engineering future, we would be delighted to hear from you.
