Location: York City Centre
A well-established and friendly Yorkshire firm of Chartered Accountants is looking to appoint a Bookkeeper to join its growing team in York.
The firm provides accountancy and business advice services to a diverse range of owner-managed and family-owned businesses, building long-term relationships and providing a personal, high-quality service to its clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bookkeeper to join a supportive and collaborative practice where there is genuine opportunity to develop skills and progress their career.
The Role
The successful candidate will provide accurate and efficient bookkeeping support to a portfolio of clients, working closely with accountants and managers to deliver an excellent level of client service.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Maintaining accurate client bookkeeping records using cloud accounting software.
*Reconciling bank accounts and investigating discrepancies.
*Maintaining accurate ledgers and processing invoices and supplier payments.
*Preparing VAT returns for review, ensuring records are complete and submissions are accurate and timely.
*Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
*Using Xero, Dext and Microsoft 365 confidently to support clients.
*Building positive relationships with clients and responding to day-to-day bookkeeping queries.
*Working collaboratively with accountants and managers to ensure clients receive a responsive and professional service.
About the Candidate
The ideal candidate will have previous bookkeeping experience and a strong eye for detail. They will be comfortable working independently while also enjoying being part of a wider team.
The firm is looking for someone who is organised, reliable and confident communicating with clients.
Ideally, candidates will have:
*Previous experience in a bookkeeping role, preferably within an accountancy practice.
*A bookkeeping qualification, with AAT Level 3 desirable but not essential.
*Experience using Xero, Excel and Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365.
*Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to their work.
*Good communication and interpersonal skills.
*The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
