Job Description:
Full job descriptionYou probably do not need another broker telling you they have a great proposition, strong insurer relationships and ambitious growth plans.
If you are a proven Development Executive in Manchester, you will have heard most of it before.
This role is worth looking at for a more practical reason. You would be joining a business with the broking capability, market access and internal support to help you get deals done, while still giving you room to develop business in your own way.
The package is also designed around people who can genuinely produce, with £100,000+ total earnings achievable.
The role
This is a new business position for somebody who already understands how to win commercial insurance clients.
You will be expected to build your own pipeline, develop relationships across the Manchester and North West business community and convert opportunities into profitable clients. There is no attempt to dress that up as something more complicated.
Where the role becomes more interesting is in what sits behind you.
You will have access to experienced broking support and a broad commercial proposition, which gives you more scope when dealing with larger or more involved cases. The intention is that you spend your time in front of prospects and developing relationships, rather than becoming buried in the servicing and administration that can gradually take over an Account Executive’s week.
What you will be doing
*Developing new commercial insurance business across Manchester and the wider North West.
*Building relationships with business owners, Finance Directors and other decision-makers.
*Creating opportunities through your own network, introducers, referrals and prospecting activity.
*Working with broking colleagues to put together suitable programmes for prospective clients.
*Managing the sales process from the first conversation through to placement.
*Developing long-term relationships rather than chasing business that makes little commercial sense.
*Building a portfolio that can grow with you over time.
Who are we looking for?
*You are likely to be an experienced Development Executive, Commercial Account Executive or New Business Executive working within commercial insurance broking.
*You will already have evidence that you can bring in business. That does not necessarily mean turning up with a ready-made book under your arm, but you should be able to show where your opportunities come from, how you develop them and the type of clients you are capable of winning.
*You will also need enough insurance knowledge to sit in front of an established business and have a credible conversation about its risks. You do not need to be the person doing every piece of technical work yourself, but you do need to understand what you are selling and where the wider broking team can add value.
*This will probably appeal most to somebody who still enjoys the new business side of the job and wants to spend more of their time doing it.
Why might you move?
*Most successful Development Executives are fairly well looked after, which means a move has to stack up commercially.
*Perhaps your current brokerage is becoming restrictive around certain risks or markets. Perhaps too much of your time is being swallowed up by servicing. You may simply feel that you have reached the point where a stronger platform would allow you to go after better quality business and earn more from the results you produce.
*There is no expectation that somebody at this level will move for the sake of moving.
Package
*The overall package is capable of reaching £100,000+, with the exact structure depending on your experience, track record and what you are currently producing.
*If you are performing well in your current role but would be interested to understand what another serious broking platform could offer you in Manchester, we can have that conversation confidentially. You can decide from there whether it is worth taking any further.
