Job Title: Machine Operator & Assembly Operative
Location: Rochdale
Department: Production / Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Supervisor / Team Leader
Working Hours
*Monday to Thursday: 6:00am to 2:30pm
*Friday: 6:00am to 11:30am
*Total Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Job Purpose
To operate manufacturing machinery and assemble ironing boards and air dryers in a safe, efficient, and quality-focused environment. The role involves ensuring production targets are met, maintaining high product standards, and supporting continuous improvement within the production process.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
*Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery used in the manufacture of ironing boards and air dryers.
*Ensure machines are running efficiently and safely.
*Conduct routine machine checks and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
*Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets.
*Maintain accurate production records where required.
Assembly Work
*Assemble components and finished products according to specifications and work instructions.
*Use hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
*Inspect parts and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
*Package completed products ready for dispatch.
*Assist with product rework when required.
Quality & Safety
*Follow all company health and safety procedures.
*Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
*Identify and report defects, hazards, or quality issues promptly.
*Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.
*Support quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
General Duties
*Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.
*Assist in other production areas as required.
*Participate in training and development activities.
*Carry out any other reasonable duties required by management.
Skills and Experience
Essential
*Previous experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or production environment.
*Ability to follow work instructions and quality standards.
*Good attention to detail.
*Reliable and punctual.
*Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
*Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
Desirable
*Experience operating manufacturing machinery.
*Experience within metalwork, appliance manufacturing, or assembly production.
*Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

*Ability to lift and move materials and products safely.
*Manual dexterity for assembly tasks.
