We’re working with a leading UK student accommodation provider, one of the country’s largest, with tens of thousands of students housed across dozens of sites nationwide, to find a Regional Health & Safety Manager to cover London and the South.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced H&S professional to join a well-established support function that keeps a large, multi-site operation running safely and compliantly. You’ll work closely with Operations and Estates teams, playing a hands-on role in protecting both staff and residents while embedding a strong safety culture across the region.
The Role
This is a varied, field-based position covering fire, building and health & safety across a large regional portfolio. You’ll split your time between supporting site teams day-to-day, leading investigations, preparing for inspections, and reporting into senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Fire Delivery
*Support delivery of the annual H&S plan, ensuring compliance with fire, building and H&S legislation
*Manage the regional H&S function, including objective setting, performance reviews and day-to-day leadership
*Build strong working relationships with Operations and Estates to ensure focused, prioritised activity
*Lead the H&S policy review programme, ensuring policies, risk assessments and monitoring regimes remain legally compliant and fit for purpose
*Advise on emerging risks, incidents and remedial actions
Incident & Risk Management
*Carry out incident investigations, liaising with external parties where required
*Ensure sites are inspection-ready, coordinating communications and follow-up actions
*Escalate deviations, concerns and potential liability risks promptly to relevant stakeholders
Reporting & Leadership
*Prepare and present safety performance updates to peers and senior leadership
*Support regional managers with training, risk assessments and audit activity
*Maintain ongoing professional development in fire, building and H&S
*Carry out other fire, building and H&S duties as required
What We’re Looking For
*Experience working in or with a large multi-site business
*Background in a regulatory environment
*Strong knowledge of fire and health & safety legislation
*Experience conducting risk assessments and audits
*Confidence delivering H&S or fire briefings/training
*A track record of working with internal and external stakeholders to implement operational policies
Qualifications
*NEBOSH National General Certificate
*Fire Risk Assessment qualification (FPA or equivalent)
Desirable:
*IOSH membership or membership of a fire safety professional body
*Environmental Health degree, Fire or Health & Safety Diploma, or equivalent
The Package
This hybrid role offers 3 days a week on-site across the London and South region and 2 days working from home. Our client offers a supportive, collaborative culture within a fast-growing organisation — full details on salary and benefits available on application.
