Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Working arrangement: Fully office-based
The Opportunity
We are recruiting an experienced Import Operations Coordinator to join an established freight-forwarding business specialising in ocean freight, import groupage and LCL consolidation.
This is a hands-on position for an experienced operator who can take ownership of consolidated containers from arrival through to final delivery. You will work closely with customers, overseas agents, internal departments and operational support teams to ensure shipments are handled accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities*Managing import consolidation containers from arrival through to cargo release and delivery
*Rating containers weekly in accordance with customer and overseas-agent agreements
*Coordinating workloads with the operational support team and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on schedule
*Reviewing work that requires additional operational oversight
*Investigating and resolving discrepancies, missing documentation, damaged cargo, short shipments and delays
*Keeping customers, agents and relevant third parties informed throughout the shipment process
*Managing the general import inbox and responding to enquiries promptly and professionally
*Releasing shipments and handling customer and overseas-agent queries by telephone and email
*Assisting with delivery arrangements and customs-clearance coordination when required
*Supporting the wider import operation during busy periods
Skills and Experience Required
*Strong experience within ocean-freight
*Previous exposure to LCL and import groupage
*Experience managing shipments from arrival through to final delivery
*A confident and accurate approach to managing an operational workload
*The ability to identify problems, investigate the cause and take ownership of the resolution
*Strong communication and customer-service skills
*Professional telephone and email correspondence
*Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
*Competence using Microsoft Office
*The ability to work effectively with customers, overseas agents and internal teams
