This is a genuinely exciting time to join the Senedd. As we prepare for the future, we are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Payroll Manager to provide professional leadership to our Payroll team. The ideal candidate will possess the expertise to ensure our payroll services are accurate, efficient, and customer-focused.Key Details:*Role Type: Temporary role -up to 4 months, with possibility to extend
*Salary: £17.58 - £20.98 per hour
*Location: Hybrid / Office location - Senedd, Pierhead St, Cardiff CF99 1SN
*Working Hours: 8am-5pm (37 hours per week)
Responsibilities:*Manage an effective payroll service to deliver excellent levels of customer service
*Deal professionally and confidentially with a wide range of pay queries from Members, Member Support Staff, Commission employees and Independent Advisors
*Ensure that payroll runs are successfully completed each month with sufficient checking processes in place to achieve high levels of accuracy and minimal errors
*Undertake detailed calculations in support of all aspects of payroll work
*Complete statutory returns to HM Revenue and Customs
*Process statutory payments such as maternity pay, paternity pay, sick pay etc.
*Administer salary sacrifice schemes including childcare vouchers, bike loans, season ticket loans
*Administer a range of advances including Christmas advances, hardship advances, holiday advances etc
*Ensure that payroll terms and conditions applicable to specific roles are adhered to - for example night allowances, overtime, recruitment and retention allowances
*Process staff travel and subsistence claims
*Ensure that 3rd party payments are managed and paid correctly
*Keeping up to date with legal developments / employment legislation changes that affect payroll, and implementing these as needed
Qualifications/Experience:*Experience with iTrent or very experienced in payroll
*Proven experience in managing monthly payroll services within organisations exceeding 500 employees.
*Strong track record of dealing with complex payroll queries and utilising deep technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
*Membership of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is highly valued.
*Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills with the ability to build credibility with stakeholders.
*Ability to demonstrate high levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
*Candidates must meet the security vetting requirement for ’SC’ level clearance (typically requiring 5 years of continuous UK residency).
*Commitment to acquiring or maintaining courtesy-level Welsh language skills.
