Full job descriptionWe are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive school in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and wants to make a genuine difference to their education and development.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils to access learning, build confidence and develop their independence.
The role may involve supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs, so previous experience within a school, SEN, care or youth setting would be highly beneficial. We are particularly interested in candidates who are patient, resilient, empathetic and confident in building positive relationships with pupils.
Key responsibilities:*Providing classroom and learning support to pupils
*Working on a one-to-one and small-group basis
*Supporting pupils with additional learning needs and SEN
*Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
*Working alongside teachers and the wider support team
*Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a calm learning environment
*Adapting support to meet individual pupil needs
*Encouraging pupils to engage positively with their education
What we’re looking for:*Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
*SEN experience is highly beneficial
*A patient, caring and understanding approach
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
*A genuine passion for helping young people succeed
*Relevant qualifications are desirable but not always essential, depending on experience
