Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant looking to progress into a broader accounting role?

BTG Recruitment is partnering with a successful and growing multisite business to recruit an Assistant Accountant for its Nottingham head office.

With annual turnover of approximately £70m, seven operational locations and ambitious growth plans, this is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced business where you can broaden your accounting experience and take on increasing responsibility.

The role

Working closely with the Management Accountant and Financial Controller, you will help support the finance function across several group companies.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Completing bank reconciliations across multiple companies
*Preparing general ledger and cashbook postings
*Supporting balance sheet reconciliations
*Processing expenses and company credit card transactions
*Assisting with stock-related accounting processes
*Preparing journals, including intercompany journals
*Supporting supplier statement reconciliations and aged payable reviews
*Providing cover across accounts payable and accounts receivable
*Assisting with month-end activities and wider finance projects
*Supporting improvements to finance systems and processes
About you

The business is looking for someone with strong practical accounting knowledge who can contribute from the outset.
You will ideally:
*Be fully AAT qualified or approaching completion
*Have experience in a broad accounts or finance role
*Understand double-entry bookkeeping
*Have experience of journals, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
*Be confident using Microsoft Excel
*Be organised and able to manage competing priorities
*Have a proactive, can-do attitude
*Bring energy, motivation and a willingness to learn
*Enjoy working in a busy, fast-paced environment
Experience of an ERP system, stock accounting or working within a multisite organisation would be advantageous but is not essential.
