Job Description:
Full job descriptionThis role is positioned within our NDA Motor Litigation Unit which deals with motor litigation across MOJ, OICP, Small Claims, Fast Track and Multi- Track claims to the value of £150k. The unit is made up of distinct file handler teams managing the different work types previously mentioned.
The unit offers clear progression pathways, both technically and operationally allowing candidates to continue their career journey within the business.
The role of the paralegal is within our support hub which provides support to the litigation teams across a variety of tasks on their files. The role provides a basic insight into the litigation process and file handling process across several different work types.
The role would suit a pre-litigation file handler looking to take their first steps into litigation or a law graduate looking for an opportunity to start their legal career.
All claims would be handled on behalf of key insurer clients as Defendant.
Full induction training will be provided along with continued on the job training and supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake administration duties on files, such tasks may include;
• Answering calls and taking relevant information from callers to pass onto file handlers;
• Make calls to Third Parties, Court, Experts to check availability, book counsel for a hearing, chase documents, agree extensions etc.
• Diarise key court dates onto the Case Management System to ensure no date is missed;
• Complete adhoc enquiries on behalf of the File Handler – ensure task is complete and keeping the file handler up to date
• Correspond with the CRU, ensuring up to date certificate of recoverable benefits are on file at all times.
• Completion of MI;
• Drafting write off forms,
• Requesting final bills and dealing with billing queries;
• File closure/transfer activities.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
• Established interest in law either through further education or experience within a process driven legal environment.
• Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
• Good team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met.
• Good understanding IT packages.
• Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow instruction with attention to detail.
