Location: Wolverhampton | Salary: £50,000 – £52,000 | Hours: Monday to Thursday with a half day Friday
We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading tier 1 automotive manufacturer for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a fast paced, high volume production environment. This is a great opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer who thrives on continuous improvement, problem solving and driving OEE performance across a busy manufacturing operation.
The Role
As Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll take ownership of process improvements, equipment buy offs and engineering changes, working closely with production and quality teams to keep operations running efficiently and safely. You’ll be hands on with automated processes, drive cost down initiatives and support the business through project introductions and shutdown activity.
Key Responsibilities
*Achieve process OEE targets covering availability, performance and quality
*Carry out data analysis and root cause analysis, then design, procure, install and validate improvements
*Manage equipment buy off, engineering changes and cost saving initiatives
*Automate and reduce costs of current processes
*Document and standardise procedures
*Monitor KPIs across improvement areas and support daily management meetings
*Develop, install, commission and validate new, modified or re-sited equipment
*Liaise with production shift managers on quality concerns, schedules and continuous improvement
*Deal directly with customers and suppliers on engineering changes and issues
*Support contingency planning, including recommended spares, in the event of equipment failure
What We’re Looking For
*Sound engineering knowledge across manufacturing processes, with a track record of improving them
*Experience with automated processes including PLCs (Siemens), Robotics (ABB), and welding (Spot/MIG/Friction), SPAC, clinch, sealant and SPR
*Computer literate, with firm knowledge of CAD and experience with Microsoft Office, SAP, Captor or OEE monitoring software
*Knowledge of material properties, electrical, mechanical, fluid power and machining
*Understanding of PFMEA and customer quality standards
*Strong project management and process optimisation background
*ONC/HNC in an Engineering discipline (preferred), or a recognised 4 year engineering apprenticeship
*Experience within a fast paced, JIT, high volume tier 1 automotive environment is advantageous
*Full UK driving licence; ability to travel to customers and suppliers, including occasional foreign travel with a valid passport
