Full job descriptionYou will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a varied range of heavy commercial vehicles, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard. This role would suit a qualified technician who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys working as part of a skilled and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

*Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles
*Complete scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance in line with DVSA requirements
*Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment
*Repair and replace components including brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions and electrical systems
*Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure they meet all required roadworthiness standards
*Attend vehicle breakdowns when required
*Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets and compliance documentation
*Identify additional defects and report any required repairs
*Ensure work is completed efficiently while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards
*Keep tools, equipment and the workshop clean, organised and properly maintained

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

*Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Heavy Vehicle Technician
*A recognised Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent experience
*Strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills
*Good knowledge of DVSA inspection and maintenance requirements
*The ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team
*A reliable, organised and safety-focused approach
*A full UK driving licence
*An HGV licence would be advantageous but is not essential
