Job Description:
Full job descriptionOur client is looking to appoint a Mechanical Fitter to support the installation, maintenance, refurbishment, and repair of mechanical equipment within electrical infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled professional who enjoys working on critical infrastructure in a safety-focused environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
*Carry out the installation, assembly, maintenance, and overhaul of mechanical equipment associated with electrical infrastructure.
*Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and installation procedures.
*Perform mechanical fitting, alignment, levelling, and torqueing of equipment and associated components.
*Install and maintain pipework, cooling systems, steelwork, cable support systems, and ancillary mechanical equipment.
*Conduct fault finding and diagnose mechanical issues, implementing effective repairs to minimise downtime.
*Work closely with electrical engineers, commissioning teams, and site supervisors to ensure successful project delivery.
*Complete inspection reports, maintenance records, and quality documentation accurately.
*Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards while working on live operational sites.
Skills and Qualifications
*Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Fitting.
*Previous experience working within electrical infrastructure, substations, industrial plants, utilities, renewable energy, or similar heavy engineering environments.
*Strong understanding of mechanical assembly techniques, precision alignment, bearings, pumps, valves, cooling systems, and rotating equipment.
*Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
*Full UK driving licence.
*CSCS/ECS card or willingness to obtain.
