The Opportunity
Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be supporting a highly respected North East organisation in the recruitment of a Credit Controller to join their established finance team.This is an excellent opportunity to join a values-led organisation with a strong reputation for making a positive impact across the UK. Working within a supportive and collaborative finance function, you will play a key role in managing customer accounts, reducing outstanding debt, and maintaining strong client relationships.The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and proactive Credit Controller who enjoys building relationships whilst ensuring effective collection of outstanding balances.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and ensure timely collection of outstanding debts.
*Proactively contact customers by telephone and email to recover overdue balances.
*Investigate and resolve invoice and payment queries efficiently.
*Monitor aged debt reports and identify overdue accounts requiring escalation.
*Maintain accurate customer account records and collection notes.
*Allocate incoming payments and reconcile customer accounts.
*Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve account discrepancies.
*Produce regular debtor reports and updates for management.
*Support continuous improvements within credit control processes and procedures.
*Ensure all activities are completed in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
*Previous experience within Credit Control, Accounts Receivable or Collections.
*Strong communication and negotiation skills.
*The ability to build positive relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
*Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
*A proactive approach with the ability to manage workloads effectively.
*Experience working within a busy finance environment.
