Harrow | Full-Time | Long-Term Academic Year | ASAP Start | £200 Per Day PAYETara Professional Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced SEND Teacher to join a specialist SEND school in Harrow, supporting secondary-aged pupils with a range of complex learning needs, including PMLD, Autism and SLD.
This is a long-term position for a minimum of the full academic year, offering excellent stability for a teacher or experienced SEND practitioner looking to establish themselves within a specialist school environment.
QTS is ideal but not essential. We are happy to consider experienced unqualified teachers and specialist SEND practitioners with the right experience. The advertised £200 per day PAYE rate is for suitably qualified candidates, with a lower rate available for unqualified candidates.
The RoleThe successful candidate will have the option to work in one of two capacities:
Full-Time Classroom TeacherTaking responsibility for a specialist class, including:
*Planning and delivering engaging, personalised lessons
*Adapting teaching to pupils’ individual abilities and learning needs
*Supporting pupils with PMLD, Autism and complex learning difficulties
*Developing communication, independence and functional life skills
*Creating a structured, safe and engaging learning environment
*Monitoring and assessing pupil progress
*Working closely with Teaching Assistants and specialist staff
*Supporting sensory, communication and physical needs
*Contributing to pupils’ wider development and preparation for adulthood
Full-Time PPA CoverThere is also an opportunity for a candidate who would prefer to work as a full-time PPA Cover Teacher.
This option allows you to focus purely on teaching and delivering lessons across different classes, without taking on additional classroom responsibilities.
It would suit an experienced SEND practitioner who enjoys working across different pupil groups and wants to focus on the teaching element of the role.

The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for a SEND Teacher or experienced specialist educator who has a genuine interest in working with pupils with complex SEND.
The ideal candidate will have:
*Strong experience working with pupils with PMLD and Autism
*Previous experience within a specialist SEND environment
*Relevant PMLD and Autism training would be highly advantageous
*Confidence adapting lessons to individual needs
*Understanding of sensory, communication and complex learning needs
*Experience supporting independence and functional/life skills
*A calm, patient and adaptable approach
*Strong classroom management skills
*The ability to work effectively alongside Teaching Assistants and specialist professionals
*A genuine passion for supporting pupils with complex needs
QTS is preferred but not essential. Experienced unqualified teachers and specialist SEND practitioners will be considered.
Working Hours & PayMonday – Friday
8:45am – 3:45pm
£200 per day PAYE – qualified/QTS candidates
Lower rate available for unqualified candidates, depending on experience
ASAP start
Minimum commitment: Full academic year
This is a genuine long-term position, with the successful candidate expected to commit to the role for the entire academic year as a minimum.
Requirements*QTS ideal but not essential
*Previous experience working within SEND education or a specialist setting
*PMLD and Autism experience/training strongly preferred
*Strong understanding of complex SEND needs
*Patient, resilient and adaptable approach
*Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service preferred
*Tara Professional Recruitment can process a DBS if required
*Strong references and employment history
*Available for an ASAP start
*Able to commit to the role for at least the full academic year
