Location: Mid Sussex
Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday
Start Date: ASAP / October 2026
Contract: Long-term
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Academics are currently looking for a caring and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Mid Sussex.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
The Role:*Provide support to pupils across Key Stage 2
*Work with children with a range of additional needs and SEN
*Support pupils both within the classroom and, where appropriate, through small-group or individual activities
*Help pupils access the curriculum and engage positively with their learning
*Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
*Support social, emotional and behavioural development
*Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure pupils receive appropriate support
*Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
The Ideal Candidate:*Previous experience working with children with SEN/additional needs in a UK school setting
*Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar
*Experience supporting pupils within KS2 would be desirable
*A patient, calm and nurturing approach
*Confident supporting children with a range of needs
*Strong communication and teamwork skills
*Reliable, adaptable and passionate about working with children
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for one
