We’re pleased to be supporting a well-known retail organisation in the search for a Finance Manager - Advisory. The role sits within the Finance Centre of Excellence and will act as the lead technical accounting resource across VAT, Fixed Assets, IFRS 16 and Treasury. Working closely with finance teams and key stakeholders across the business, you’ll provide expert guidance on complex accounting matters, ensure compliance with accounting standards and legislation, and help drive continuous improvement across financial reporting and controls.
The Role As Finance Manager - Advisory, you’ll be responsible for providing technical accounting expertise across the Finance Centre of Excellence, helping to strengthen governance, improve consistency of accounting treatments and reduce reliance on Corporate and Group Finance teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Acting as the subject matter expert for technical accounting matters across the Finance Centre of Excellence.
*Providing practical guidance and support on complex transactions and accounting issues.
*Ensuring compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, VAT legislation and company accounting policies.
*Supporting accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting.
*Reviewing accounting treatments and balance sheet positions to ensure accuracy and integrity.
*Supporting internal and external audit activities and responding to technical accounting queries.
*Leading the implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
*Developing and coaching colleagues across the Record-to-Report and Fixed Asset teams.
*Driving improvements to controls, processes and the quality of financial reporting.
*Supporting finance transformation initiatives and systems projects.
*Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, providing clear and commercially focused advice.
About You We’re keen to speak with technically strong finance professionals who enjoy solving complex problems, working collaboratively and influencing positive change.
You’ll ideally possess:
*ACA qualified (preferred) or ACCA qualified.
*Strong technical accounting knowledge across IFRS and UK GAAP.
*Significant VAT experience, including VAT return preparation and review.
*IFRS 16 experience gained within a large and complex organisation.
*Experience preparing technical accounting papers and providing accounting recommendations.
*Advanced Excel skills and experience of working with ERP systems.
*Experience operating across multiple legal entities.
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
*Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
*A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
Desirable Experience *Treasury accounting exposure.
*Previous experience within a large accountancy practice.
*Involvement in finance transformation, change or systems implementation projects.
