Full job descriptionFairfield School of Business (FSB), a private higher education provider founded in 2006 with campuses in London, Birmingham and Luton. We provide industry-relevant qualifications in business and healthcare management, in partnership with leading UK universities.
Our focus is to offer an open and inclusive learning and teaching environment for both students and staff. We are also committed to providing access to higher education to those who may not have formal qualifications, financial means or can commit to the schedule of a mainstream university.
We are currently seeking to appoint an Outreach Manager to lead and coordinate FSB’s outreach and community engagement activities. The postholder will develop sustainable relationships with external organisations and communities that support student recruitment, widening participation and institutional growth.
Working closely with Marketing, Admissions, Student Support, Academic teams and Campus Management, the Outreach Manager will ensure outreach activity generates meaningful engagement, applications and enrolments while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, compliance and student protection.
Key Responsibilities*Develop and implement FSB’s outreach strategy across campuses and target communities.
*Build and maintain relationships with schools, colleges, community groups, charities, local authorities, employers, Jobcentre Plus and other stakeholders.
*Identify new outreach opportunities, communities and geographical areas for engagement.
*Organise and deliver outreach events, information sessions, workshops, open days and campus visits.
*Represent FSB at external meetings, exhibitions, community events and recruitment activities.
*Provide accurate information on programmes, entry requirements, fees, funding and student support.
*Work closely with Admissions to support effective follow-up of prospective students.
*Collaborate with Marketing to create outreach campaigns and materials.
*Support widening participation by engaging underrepresented and non-traditional learners.
*Maintain accurate records of outreach contacts, referrals, enquiries and events.
*Monitor prospective students from initial engagement through to enrolment.
*Analyse outreach performance, conversion rates and recruitment outcomes.
*Produce regular reports on outreach activity, applications, enrolments and opportunities.
*Monitor competitor activity and developments within the higher education sector.
*Manage outreach budgets effectively and demonstrate value for money.
*Ensure all outreach activity complies with FSB policies, partner university requirements and relevant regulatory expectations.
*Undertake other duties appropriate to the level of the role.
Compliance and Student ProtectionStudent recruitment within higher education must be conducted ethically and responsibly. The Outreach Manager will ensure that prospective students receive clear, accurate and non-misleading information regarding programmes, fees, funding, progression opportunities and the student experience.
The postholder must comply with relevant requirements relating to data protection, equality and diversity, consumer protection and higher education regulation. Success will be measured not only by enquiry volume but by the quality of engagement and progression to application and enrolment.
Person SpecificationEssential*Experience in outreach, student recruitment, community engagement, business development or stakeholder management.
*Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
*Experience working towards measurable targets and KPIs.
*Strong organisational and project management skills.
*Ability to analyse data and use insights to improve performance.
*Confidence representing an organisation externally.
*Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
*Good IT skills, including experience with CRM systems or databases.
*Understanding of ethical and transparent recruitment practices.
*Willingness to travel between campuses and attend external events.
Desirable*Experience within UK higher education or further education.
*Experience supporting mature or non-traditional learners.
*Knowledge of widening participation and access to higher education.
*Existing relationships with community organisations, colleges or employers.
*Understanding of UK higher education recruitment regulations.
*Experience working within a multi-campus organisation.
QualificationsA degree or equivalent professional experience is desirable. Professional qualifications in marketing, business development, education, community engagement or a related field would be advantageous.
