Job Description:
Full job descriptionTax Investigations ManagerLondon or St Albans | £60,000-£70,000
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tax Investigations Manager to join a highly regarded, independent accountancy firm with an established presence across London and the South East.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong Tax Investigations professional to join a growing specialist offering, working alongside experienced Partners and senior tax professionals on a varied portfolio of complex investigations and disputes.
The Role
You will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of HMRC investigations and tax dispute matters, providing technically robust advice to individuals, business owners and corporate clients.
Your work will include:
*
Managing HMRC enquiries from initial notification through to settlement
*
COP8 and COP9 investigations
*
Code of Practice enquiries and voluntary disclosures
*
Worldwide Disclosure Facility (WDF) cases
*
Complex income, capital and corporation tax enquiries
*
Penalty mitigation and negotiations with HMRC
*
Schedule 36 information notices
*
Dealing with HMRC information requests and establishing appropriate disclosure strategies
*
Supporting clients through serious and potentially contentious tax investigations
*
Advising on settlements and dispute resolution
*
Working with other professional advisers, including lawyers and accountants
*
Reviewing investigation work and providing technical guidance to more junior members of the team
*
Building and maintaining strong client relationships

There will also be the opportunity to become involved in business development and the continued growth of the Tax Investigations and Disputes offering, working closely with Partners to identify opportunities and develop existing client relationships.
About You
The ideal candidate will have strong experience within Tax Investigations, Tax Disputes or HMRC, with a genuine technical interest in complex investigation work.
You will ideally have experience across areas such as:
*
COP8 / COP9
*
HMRC enquiries
*
WDF and voluntary disclosures
*
Penalties
*
Schedule 36
*
Complex settlements
*
Tax dispute resolution

You may currently be working within HMRC, a Big 4 firm, Top 20/50 practice or specialist Tax Investigations/Disputes team.
Most importantly, you will be someone who enjoys the technical side of investigations, is confident dealing directly with HMRC and clients, and wants to take greater ownership of their work and career.
Why Join?
This is a chance to join a firm where Tax Investigations is a genuine area of focus, rather than being an add-on to a broader compliance role.
You will have the opportunity to:
*
Work on technically challenging investigation matters
*
Take ownership of your own portfolio
*
Work closely with experienced Partners
*
Develop your client-facing and advisory skills
*
Become involved in business development
*
Play a role in the continued growth of the investigations offering
*
Progress your career within an established and well-respected firm
