Full job descriptionPayroll Clerk / Payroll Manager
Pinxton, Nottinghamshire
£32,000 - £38,000 FTE
Permanent | Full-time or 4 days per week | Office-based
Macildowie are working with this client based in Pinxton, Nottinghamshire to recruit an experienced Payroll Clerk / Payroll Manager to take ownership of their weekly payroll within a well-established manufacturing business.
This is a hands-on payroll opportunity managing a busy weekly payroll for approximately 200 permanent employees, alongside the administration and reconciliation of agency timesheets. The organisation operates within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, so we’re looking for somebody comfortable managing multiple pay rates, overtime, shift allowances, bonuses, sickness and holiday payments.
The role sits within a close-knit finance team and reports directly to the Financial Director. Importantly, although you’ll take ownership of payroll, there is trained payroll cover within the wider finance team for holidays and absence.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take responsibility for the weekly payroll process from time and attendance through to payment, including:
*Downloading and reviewing weekly time and attendance information
*Reconciling clocking records against shift information and investigating discrepancies
*Liaising with shift managers regarding missing or incorrect information
*Preparing and submitting weekly agency timesheets
*Uploading approved information into Sage Payroll
*Processing overtime, shift bonuses, holidays, sickness and other payroll adjustments
*Preparing payroll payments for approval
*Maintaining accurate employee and payroll records
*Producing ad hoc payroll reports for senior finance stakeholders
*Supporting with HR administration including filing, headcount information and gender pay gap reporting
What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally have previous experience managing or taking significant ownership of payroll within a manufacturing, logistics, warehousing or similarly fast-paced environment.
Experience of Sage Payroll would be particularly useful, alongside good Excel skills and confidence working with time and attendance systems.
More importantly, you’ll be somebody who is accurate, resilient and comfortable working independently. You’ll need to communicate confidently with operational managers and be comfortable investigating discrepancies rather than simply processing the information you’re given.
The package
Salary is £32,000 - £38,000 FTE, dependent upon experience.
Standard hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, although there is genuine flexibility available. For an experienced payroll professional focused primarily on payroll, the position could work particularly well across four days per week, while alternative hours around commitments such as the school run can also be considered.
For somebody wanting a broader full-time role, there is scope to support additional transactional finance activity alongside payroll.
The position is fully office-based in Pinxton.
If you’re an experienced payroll professional looking for genuine ownership of a weekly payroll, flexibility around your working pattern and the backing of a supportive finance leadership team, we’d be keen to speak with you.
