Full job descriptionIf you’re enthusiastic, a great team player and fantastic with customers, we’d love you to join our shops team in Broughton-in-Furness.
The shops are open Monday to Saturday and you could be working any of these days in our Grocers, Butchers or Bakery. If you’re looking for variety, this could be the perfect role for you!
We’ll teach you everything you need to know — what’s important is your level of customer service and your willingness to get stuck in! And as our Bakery also includes a café, we’re looking for people with a wide range of skills and flexibility.


Responsibilities
As a Shop Assistant you could be working in any of our three shops. You’ll:
*Welcome everyone who walks through the door of our shops with a fantastic level of customer service
*Make sure the shops are always looking their best
*Clean and tidy at all times
*No bruised fruit or vegetables, or stale cake!
*Ensure stock levels are spot on — no stock-outs but no out-of-date stock either!
*Complete daily checklists and paperwork accurately (including end-of-day procedures)


Attributes
You’ll be friendly and flexible, and you’ll need to have:
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — you’ll enjoy meeting and chatting to customers
*The ability to use your initiative but also know when to ask for help
*A willingness to cover a wide range of tasks and help with whatever needs doing
*Good numeracy skills — confident dealing with cash and calculating change
*The ability to work under pressure and juggle a number of different tasks


Expectations
We’re known for our quirky products but we’re a serious (and very successful) business. This largely comes down to the fantastic people we employ so we have high expectations.
