Lead Data Engineer role joining a growing organisation embarking on a major data transformation programme. This role offers the chance to lead the migration from legacy on-premise data platforms to a modern Databricks-based architecture, helping to shape the future of the company’s data capabilities.
As a Lead Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building and optimising scalable data solutions while providing technical leadership to a team of engineers and analyst. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver high-quality data products that drive insight and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead the migration of data platforms from on-premise environments to Databricks
*Design and develop scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions
*Drive best practices across data engineering, architecture and governance
*Mentor and support data engineers/analysts within the team
*Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions
*Improve platform performance, reliability and scalability
*Contribute to the long-term data strategy and roadmap
Skills & Experience
*Strong experience in Data Engineering roles, including leadership or mentoring responsibilities
*Hands-on experience with Databricks
*Experience delivering cloud-based data platforms and migration projects
*Strong SQL
*Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
*Knowledge of Azure data technologies would be advantageous
*Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
