About the role
An award-winning four-star hotel and spa in Suffolk is looking for an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join its kitchen team. Set in a historic Grade I listed house surrounded by parkland, the hotel is a short drive from Ipswich.
The hotel’s fine-dining restaurant holds 2 AA Rosettes and serves modern seasonal cuisine made with quality British produce. The hotel also serves afternoon tea.
Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll help run the kitchen, prepare and develop dishes for the à la carte menu, and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation. You’ll also support and train junior chefs and lead the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
Key responsibilities
*Prepare and present fresh, seasonal dishes to a high standard
*Support the Head Chef with menu planning and development
*Help manage kitchen service and maintain food quality
*Train, mentor and support junior members of the brigade
*Take responsibility for the kitchen when the Head Chef is away
*Contribute to stock control and staff rotas
Requirements
*Previous experience as a Senior Sous Chef, or in a similar senior kitchen role
*Experience in a fresh-food kitchen
*Passion for quality ingredients, modern cuisine and excellent presentation
*Strong teamwork, communication and leadership skills
*Ability to use your initiative and bring ideas to the menu
*Knowledge of menu planning, stock control and rotas
*Flexibility to work split shifts, evenings and weekends
*A full driving licence and access to transport, as the location makes this essential
