Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Corby area.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and helping them overcome barriers to their education.
Previous experience within SEN, SEND or SEMH would be particularly beneficial, although we would also welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience in mental health, care, youth work, counselling, psychology or other support-based roles.
The RoleAs a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement with learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Providing one-to-one and small-group support
*Supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs
*Working with pupils who may have SEN or additional needs
*Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
*Helping students develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
*Supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning
*Encouraging positive behaviour, engagement and attendance
*Helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence
*Providing a calm and consistent presence throughout the school day
*Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom
*Assisting with wellbeing, mentoring and intervention sessions
*Working closely with teachers, SEND staff, pastoral teams and other professionals
The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for someone who is patient, resilient, empathetic and genuinely passionate about supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
Ideally, you will have previous experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEND, SEMH, mental health or behavioural needs.
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in:

*Youth work
*Behaviour support
*Care or support work
*Residential childcare
*Psychology

You will need to be confident building relationships with young people and able to remain calm and consistent when supporting students who may struggle with emotional regulation or display challenging behaviour.
