Job Description:
Full job descriptionWORK ON COMPLEX FINANCIAL PLANNING CASES. DEVELOP YOUR EXPERTISE. PROGRESS YOUR CAREER.
If you’re an experienced Paraplanner looking for a role where your technical expertise is genuinely valued, your work has real influence, and there is a clear opportunity to progress your career, this could be the move you’ve been waiting for.
We’re working with a highly respected, ambitious and growing financial planning business in Ascot that is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Services Paraplanner to join its established team.
This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced Financial Advisers on a relatively low volume of high-value and technically interesting cases. Rather than simply processing large quantities of routine work, you’ll have the time and opportunity to really understand clients’ circumstances, analyse their financial position and contribute to high-quality financial planning solutions.
There’s also an exciting longer-term opportunity for the right person to progress towards becoming a Financial Adviser.
If becoming an Adviser is something you’ve considered but you haven’t yet found the right environment in which to make that progression, this could be an excellent opportunity to take that next step.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Financial Services Paraplanner, you’ll play an important role in supporting Advisers and delivering high-quality financial planning outcomes for clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Gathering, analysing and interpreting detailed client information.
*Preparing comprehensive financial planning reports and recommendations for Adviser review.
*Supporting complex, high-value financial planning cases.
*Undertaking cashflow planning and detailed financial analysis.
*Completing product and provider research, including CIP and CRP.
*Supporting pension, investment, estate and wider financial planning requirements.
*Working closely with Advisers and the wider servicing team to deliver excellent client outcomes.
*Liaising directly with clients where appropriate.
*Preparing information and documentation for ongoing Adviser services.
*Assisting with meeting preparation and ensuring deadlines are met.
*Developing and refining procedures, processes and report templates.
You’ll be trusted to use your technical knowledge, judgement and experience, rather than simply working through a checklist of administration tasks.
WHY THIS ROLE?
It’s about the quality of the work and the opportunity to develop.
You’ll be dealing with a smaller number of high-value clients and cases, allowing you to become genuinely involved in the financial planning process and develop your technical expertise.
You’ll work closely with experienced Advisers and gain a deeper understanding of the advice process, making this an ideal environment for an ambitious Paraplanner who ultimately wants to progress into a Financial Adviser role.
The business actively encourages professional development and supports people who want to build a long-term career within financial planning.
Whether you’re looking to strengthen your technical expertise, work towards Chartered status or ultimately move into an Adviser position, this role offers the scope to develop.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You’ll need proven experience within an IFA Paraplanning environment, together with strong technical knowledge and the confidence to deal with complex financial planning requirements.
Ideally, you’ll have:
*CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS) or an equivalent Paraplanning qualification.
*Strong experience in an IFA Paraplanning role.
*Excellent technical knowledge across a broad range of financial products and providers.
*Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
*Experience with cashflow planning.
*The ability to interpret complex client information and formulate recommendations.
*Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with Advisers, colleagues and clients.
*A genuine interest in developing your career within financial planning.
Chartered status, or a desire to work towards Chartered status, would be advantageous.
Experience across areas such as pension switching, estate planning, investment planning and portfolio management would also be beneficial.
Knowledge of systems and platforms including Assureweb, Exweb, Underwriteme, Intelligent Office, Transact, Quilter, Abrdn, Prudential, LV=, Aviva, FE Analytics and Defaqto would be useful, although training can be provided where required.
THE PACKAGE
*£50,000 per annum
*25 days’ holiday + Bank Holidays
*Buy & Sell Holiday Scheme
*Hybrid working following successful completion of probation
*Life Assurance – 4x basic salary
*Income Protection – up to 75% of annual salary
*Critical Illness Cover – 1x annual salary
*Private Medical Insurance
*Auto-enrolment or salary sacrifice pension schemes
*Employee Assistance Programme
*Annual salary review
*37.5-hour working week, Monday–Friday
THE BIGGER PICTURE
This isn’t simply another Paraplanning vacancy.
It’s an opportunity to join a professional, ambitious and supportive financial planning environment, work on genuinely interesting and complex cases, develop your technical expertise and build towards the next stage of your career.
For the right person, that could ultimately mean progressing from Paraplanner to Financial Adviser.
If you’re an experienced Paraplanner who wants more responsibility, more involvement and a genuine career path, we’d be very interested in hearing from you.
